Tom Burns
Managing Partner
Tom Burns is a co-owner and managing partner of the TORO Properties Group
and oversees all investments in single family and small apartment properties.
The TORO Properties Group is a group of investment companies that invests
in residential and multi-family properties in metro Atlanta. Since its founding
in 1999, the TORO Properties Group has invested in more than 850 residential
and multi-family units in the greater Atlanta area and currently owns and
manages 470 residential and multi-family units.
Mr. Burns has been an Atlanta resident for more than 20 years and combines
his knowledge of the Atlanta real estate market and construction/rehab with
his past experiences in sales and marketing. He also has extensive experience
in renovation and contracting, financial aspects and budgeting associated
with renovation projects, leasing and property management.
Prior to becoming a full-time real estate investor, Mr. Burns spent five years with ExecuTrain Enterprises, a leading international franchise enterprise providing software training from 200 locations in 25 countries. He rose from a position in purchasing to become the Franchise Sales Manager of ExecuTrain’s global operations. In this role, Mr. Burns facilitated ExecuTrain’s entry into foreign markets, including Japan, China, and throughout Europe. Mr. Burns also spent 18 months in London overseeing ExecuTrain’s expansion throughout the UK as well as establishing ExecuTrain’s European headquarters. He has spoken at numerous franchise conferences and has been quoted in The Economist, Newsweek International, and Entrepreneur Magazine.
Before joining ExecuTrain, Mr. Burns held various sales and technical positions with Mohawk Carpet and IBM Corporation in Atlanta. Mr. Burns received a BA from The Citadel in 1990.
